Setting dependency levels

Establishing dependency levels on mapped assets & resources

In most organizations, products, services and other critical objectives are supported by a range of processes or activities.  These processes are in turn supported by the organization's assets and resources which must be fully functioning and available for these processes to continue in an uninterrupted fashion.  Using the business continuity mapping process,  all related operational components should be mapped to each other to examine the affect and consequences of an interruption to any one component. The level of dependency that one component has to each mapped component should also be assessed and recorded. This enables the BIA values to be calculated accordingly. Module 4 is used to map assets & resources to processes.

Setting the dependency rating for the selected process & activity and asset & resource

Clicking the dependency dropdown at the bottom of the mapped assets & resources list box and the following pop-up will be displayed with different values from the example values shown in the screen shot of the pop-up below.

Set a suitable dependency rating that reflects the level of dependency of the selected process on each mapped asset or resource.  Five dependency levels are available through the dependency dropdown list box. The chosen dependency level will affect the BIA values being transferred from the process to the mapped asset or resource. Information of these BIA value changes will appear in the dropdown list box.
